Carousel Chair / Personal Practice / 2025

A furniture piece built for nomadic movement, the Carousel Chair assembles and disassembles effortlessly, with all components fitting into a suitcase and requiring only an Allen key for setup.

Crafted from standard plywood sheets and off-the-shelf hardware, the approach draws inspiration from Enzo Mari and the ethos of accessible, DIY furniture. Challenging the constraints of the traditional furniture industry, it offers open-source CNC plans for makers to build, share, and modify as needed.

The Carousel Chair is a physical embodiment of a philosophy: design should be a shared, adaptable practice reflecting our collective human experience. Mobility has always been intrinsic to human life, yet our furniture remains incompatible with change. The Carousel Chair shows an alternative—built for repeated assembly, disassembly, and reinvention, ensuring longevity beyond a single space or moment.

Featured in Isola Design's Milan Design Week 2025 Gallery, the Carousel Chair was flown to and from in a suitcase to be featured in the show.
